Revised Overview of Role:

The incumbent will serve as an integral member of the Nursing and Multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of evidence-basedcare to hospital patients. Demonstrating the highest professional and ethical standards, the nurse will follow a comprehensivenursing model, encompassing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Nurses are expected to adhere strictly to the Code of Professional Conduct established by the Nursing and Midwifery Boardof Ireland and Professional Clinical Guidelines. The role involves compliance with Hospital Guidelines, Policies, and Protocols, continuous professional development, and maintaining accountability for one's practice. Responsibilities also include providing compassionate, efficient, and professional nursing services, upholding ethical policies, respecting patient privacy, and assuming leadership in the absence of the CNMII. The nurse may also take on mentoring responsibilities and facilitate the orientationof new staff.

Clinical Practice:

The nurse will be responsible for the complete cycle of patient care, from assessment toevaluation, ensuring adherence to the agreed nursing model. This includes receiving patients and their families warmly, participating in procedures and treatments, and ensuring meticulous documentation. The role extends to medication control, anticipatingpatient needs, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, acting as a patient advocate, and facilitating discharge planningwith empathy and ethics. The nurse should be adept at safely using medical equipment and devices at the ward level.

Qualifications & Experience:

Candidates should possess a valid decision letter from the NMBI, with a preference for a minimum of4 years of post-registration experience. Basic Life Support Certification is required. Flexibility is crucial, as the role may involve shifts covering nights, long days, and weekends, and the ability to move between different wards based on patient needs.
