If you’re a Google Messages app user, here’s great news for you! The company is working on bringing out a new feature that isn’t available with any messaging apps yet. One Time Passwords (OTPs) are a very common authentication method these days that is used along with almost every sign up you go through. Whenever you sign up with a new website or an application, you’re sent a numerical code on either your email or the messages app using your phone number. You’re required to enter the code on the respective website or app for authentication, leading you to a successful sign-up.
If you go through your Google Messages, you’ll see your inbox stacked with OTPs. Therefore, one needs to delete all of them once in a while to clear up some space and unnecessary OTPs that are valid for a few minutes and aren’t required any further. These OTPs live for a day, a few hours, or a few minutes, which depicts their temporary nature. Thus, according to the XDA developers, Google will soon bring out a feature focusing on the deletion of these OTP messages after 24 hours. It also means that deleting unwanted OTP messages will no more be a pain for you. Also, the word is that when the feature goes live, the user can choose to enable or disable the same from the settings app of the phone.
