Cork is a natural and organic material that is derived from the bark or the outer part of the oak tree. Portugal is the world's largest producer of cork. This material is an impermeable and buoyant one and the phellem layer of bark tissue is harvested first after 25 years. The second harvest is done after 9 years and then after a similar interval, this is done again.
