By bringing together Digital Humanities practitioners working in established Digital Humanities Labs, software engineers and professionals working in Research and Development in various industries and digital agencies in the UK, this workshop aims to explore how software development processes and approaches, including Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), can be actively integrated in Digital Humanities labs and projects. Furthermore, through this workshop we will be able explore new research collaborations as well as the development of a collaborative interdisciplinary network of stakeholders, from both academia and creative/digital industries focusing on embedding Research Software Development in Digital Humanities structures and projects.


This workshop will focus on exploring :

1) modes of collaboration between DH & Software Development

2) new professional/ roles and skill sets (eg. Research Software engineers career path)

3) Software development workflows (with a focus on SDLC) in DH structures/projects and 

4) embedding Scrum/Agile methodologies in DH projects.
