Description:
I am delighted to be working with this Irish manufacturing group, who designs, develops and manufactures components for the global automotive industry. They supply products throughout Europe, the Americas and Australia. Due to rapid expansion and new business acquisition, an opportunity has now arisen for a Product Development Chemist to join their team.
ScopeThe role of the Product Development Chemist is to provide technical support and guidance to production processes, research anddevelopment projects and activities within the company's projects portfolio. The Product Development Chemist will work closelywith groups of engineers, scientists and manufacturing staff, as part of a team, to enable the successful execution of development processes and product improvement projects
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for new technology/product evaluation in anISO 9001 accredited lab environment
* Ensure consistent and reliable project delivery.
* Document data as dictated by client policies and procedures.
* Managing two QA laboratories operations & providing technical guidance.
* Design of experiments, test protocols, standard and equipment operating procedures.
* Method development & optimisation.
* Data analysis& interpretation.
* Performing equipment calibrations & troubleshooting.
* Ensuring all laboratory instrumentation is in working order.
* Investigating problems associated with product manufacturing and implementing corrective and preventative measures.
* Carry out Root cause analysis.
* Preparing and deliver technical presentations and analytical investigation reports.
* Train technical staff & junior team members.
* Provide support to Manufacturing , QC and R&D teams.
* Attending group meetings and meetings with clients.
* Support activities relating to customer complaints & product returns.* Liaise with external Laboratories, suppliers & service engineers.
* Ensure laboratory compliance with Health and Safety, Quality Management System and all regulatory requirements
Requirements:
* Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical engineering or a related technical field
* Operational experience of quality laboratories
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with clear goals
* Excellent communication experience, documentation skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
