Senior Geologist – General Manager Designate

Job Purpose
of a Senior Geologist
- To manage the throughput, delivery and quality of Multi-client and propriety geological reports in Future Geoscience Limited (FGL)
- Will complete their own technical reports and manage technical delivery teams
- In conjunction with the Marketing Director FGL, will perform all tasks necessary to achieve the FGL annual sales budgets and forecasts.
- Be involved in the recruitment of new geological staff in region, subject to approval from FGL Board (for geologists).
Reporting Relationships:
- Reports to Managing Director FGL
- Technical Line Manager for the geological staff in FGL/allocated to FGL by the shareholders
- To supervise the work of geologists in the FGL team and subcontractors
- Manage the prioritisation, delivery, technical quality of geological reports undertaken by geologists
- Input into Business Development and direction of Proprietary and MC technical services
- Peer Relationships: Country Managers in Hafren Financial Controllers, Sales and Marketing teams and Lab managers and equivalent in PetroStrat
- Input to the FGL R&D of stratigraphic and sedimentological development and of FGL technical services
Dimensions:
- Annual operating budget in agreement with FGL plan for MC and Proprietary operations
- In conjunction with the Technical and Operations Managers in Chemostrat and PetroStrat to help build a geological team (appropriate to MC and Proprietary budget requirements)
- Assist MD (FGL) with the maintenance of relationships with agents in appropriate areas (universities, government agencies, consultants, corestores) relating to geological report delivery
Principal Accountabilities:
- The manager will assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organisation's strategic plans and help implement growth plans
- They will proactively drive the business development activities of FGL via the sales and marketing teams of the shareholders and including initiating business opportunities for FGL personally
- They will be involved in Geological Project Management, overseeing geological project work, ensuring that work is of the high standards in FGL requires, providing sedimentological input as required
- They will be also be directly involved in their own projects, carrying out interpretation, reporting, presentation of reports
- To undertake and / or manage client reporting and promotional presentations for Future Geoscience services globally
- In conjunction with the Marketing Director FGL to aid in the promotion of FGL and parent company services
- To maintain a high profile within the Business and Academic community, promoting Hafren / PetroStrat and FGL at all levels
- They will be expected to maintain a high scientific profile for the FGL through publications and conference papers
- They will be expected to provide technical input for marketing strategies for FGL initiatives
- They may be expected to attend of trade shows in the globally as requested by the Marketing Director or the MD of FGL
- They will provide input to the FGL for cash flows, reforecasts and budgets in order that FGL can react to resource requirements
- Advise the FGL Board on local market requirements and conditions in each of the FGL operational areas
Internal and External Relationships
- The Geological Manager will have input into the marketing and strategy, but will follow the direction from FGL Board
- Maintain close relationships with other Hafren and Petrostrat Managers, Financial controllers, Sales and Marketing teams and Lab Managers
- Develop relationships with such external agents as may be required for the execution of the group’s strategy.
Incentive
- Annual salary is based upon FGL remuneration scales, with a weighting for local living costs
- FGL have a Bonus scheme, which will be applicable to Senior Geologist position
- Manager-level bonus schemes are based upon Group and local calculations
