We are recruiting for a leading construction consultancy looking to add a Highway Engineer/Technician to their team!



Purposeof the Role-

The Highways Engineer will work as part of the Asset Management Team, responsible for delivering an Asset Management Programme to the carriageway and footway network, drainage systems and road markings, this includes the innovative Network Recovery Programme (NRP), with the aim of improving the condition of the Borough's highways infrastructure. Post holder will provide technical support in the effective and efficient promotion, design and execution of projects, schemes, investigations, and analysis as required within budgets and programmes.



A Few Key Responsibilities of the Role-

* Design and supervision of projects, preparation of estimates, working drawings and Contract documents for projects of varying complexity
* Designing specifications and cost estimates, issuing works requisitions, liaising with and supervising contractors and monitoring costs.
* Assisting in obtaining the necessary technical, administrative, and financial approvals and in the preparation, supervision and administration of associated consultants' commissions or contracts.
* Carry out condition surveys and site surveys as directed and to assist with or carry out the preparation of reports on findings. To assist in the introduction of new methods as necessary to ensure efficient use of resources, including taking an active role in promoting best value.
* Preparing scheme plans to requisite design levels, ensuring they conform to technical and industry standards.
* To assist in the development, monitoring, control, and review budgets held in respect of contracted Highways Management Services.
* To maintain technical and resource records and undertake research and technical investigations as directed.
* To ensure that the contractors are delivering quality services in compliance with specifications, through maintaining adequate records to address non-compliance issues andresulting remedial actions.
* To liaise with all relevant Stakeholder to ensure effective programming of the project to avoidunnecessary delays.





Essential Experience of the Role-

* You must be qualified to degree level or equivalent inCivil Engineering or Transportation, with a minimum of 2 years Post-Graduate Experience
* Demonstrable Engineering, Transportation, or equivalent experience
* Good IT Skills - including the use of Autocad and Microsoft Office Suite including Word andExcel
* Knowledge of highways and transport policies and associated working knowledge of legislation
* The ability to set and work to personal deadlines and targets to meet the requirements of programmes of work, to meet clients' needs and to respond to targets set by others
* Experience in programme and project management
* Detailed understanding of the design process andinterface with multiple disciplines
* Experience in financial and cost management
* Experience of surveying and project cost calculation
* Demonstrable customer care skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Good budgetary management skills
* Experience of working with consultants and/or contractors
* Full driving licence or the ability to travel around the borough daily
