Quantity Surveyor -Retail
Salary: 35000 - 50000
Office Based in Bristol
Our client is a retail fit out and construction expert recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a team of surveyors based from their office in Bristol withsite visit once a week or once every 2 weeks. Working for retail clients such Tesco, Waitrose, premier shopping centres and cardealerships.
Job Purpose
Responsible for all financial aspects of the project, working closely with the Senior Surveyor and
Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain close relationships with customers, consultants and subcontractors to
continuously improve the customer experience and support future repeat and negotiated business.
Totake active responsibility for all financial procedures in conjunction with the Senior
Surveyor
To suggest trade contractors, systems and manufacturers for team appraisal.
To take a lead role in the valuation process.
Be aware of element costings and costs/ft2
Develop initial project budget and agree detailed cost plan with the Senior Surveyor for
agreement withthe professional team.
To assist in managing all cost control aspects of the project(s), ensuring the use of appropriate
cost, reporting systems.
Confirm project insurance arrangements.
Advise client on procurement routes available.
Prepareand monitor Bid Package Tender Schedule.
To assist senior management in the protection of the Company's contractual positionAdvise on product selection, specifications and assist with value engineering exercises.
Advise on selection of Works Contractors.
Monitor the information flow both to and from company to ensure that work undertaken is fully
authorised at all times.
Attend and if necessary, chair meetings with the design team and with works contractors.
Manage the change process in conjunction with the extended team.
Instruct accounts to invoice clients and pay subcontractors and suppliers
Prepare 'rolling' final account throughout project and agree at PC
Close out financial account and retention releases
Prepare finalaccount reconciliation (CVR), create regular budget and price updates, update
computerised cost control system and prepare the monthly cost and progress report for
Interior directors responsible
Provide feedback to trade contractors on completionInternal reporting via billing monitors, MCR's and interim CVR's
To ensure our HSQE and quality standards, operating processes, company policies, ISO
accreditations and all legislative requirements are understood, implemented and adhered to at alltimes.
Maintain a full understanding of contractual conditions and company contractual liabilities
QualificationsDegree qualified or NVQ, Btec or Higher National equivalent
Skills & Experiences
2 to 5 years full time experience within the construction industry
Retail experience
Good Understanding of JCT forms of contract & Contract lawGood knowledge and understanding of Word and Excel packages
Good verbal and written communication skills
