I am currently recruiting for a very exciting, brand new position.This role is a new addition within a very successful West Surrey based travel business who have been established for over 35 years , they are specialists in Worldwide travel adventures and they are looking for a Responsible Business Manager to be the company Ambassador for the sustainability of their trips. Within this exciting new role you will drive forward this award winning company's Responsible Business ethos and make it industry leading, as well as heading up the Responsiblebusiness Forum, to create, formalise, deliver and embed a UK travel industry leading responsible approach to business.

KeyResponsibilities:
*This role is being created to set and implement a 3 year strategy in conjunction with the Directors and GMT, a key aspect I the measurement of our impacts (positive and negative) and against targets.
*Set 3 year strategy to become theleading UK responsible tour operator
*Remit extends across all teams, supply chain (eg ground agents) and other stakeholders*Become a Carbon Positive company
*Research and create guidelines on all aspects of RB (e.g. begging, photography)
*Monitor progress & initiate action (either to maximise upsides or corrective)
*Act as spokesperson for all aspects of RB internally and externally
*Motivate RB forum (and rest of staff, DMCs and other stakeholders)
*Manage RB budget to maximise impact and benefit
*Enhance and protect our reputation
*In conjunction with sales and marketing, drive our external responsible tourism communication
*Review sponsorship potential from airlines and other business partners
*Ad hoc attendance at GMT monthly meetings

Overseas:
*Minimise environmental impacts - "Responsible in everything we do" & set guidelines (e.g. avoiding overtourism, water conservation)
*Minimise societal impacts and maximise benefits (Always being welcomed back) and set guidelines
*Create policies on schools & orphanages visits & animal welfare
*Implement Modern Slavery strategy
*Implement nosingle use plastic policy
*Focus on use of locally owned businesses
*Ensure maximum financial leakage into local economies*Reduce carbon emissions (transport and hotels)
*Reduce imbalance in gender inequality
*Understand best (and worst) practice from DMCs and encourage co-operation
*Meaningfully link projects/charities and projects to itineraries
*Leverage benefitfrom partner relationships (e.g. GIZ)

UK:
*Head up RB forum
*Educate and motivate staff on RB policy (and learning from them)
*Maintain carbon neutral office & Zero-to-landfill waste policy
*Review aviation and ground services offsetting
*Maximise recycling
*Oversee volunteering scheme
*Expansion of links with further education
*Promote and represent company atRB related events, to share our knowledge and learn from others
*In charge of relationship management with Partners (Cool Earth, W2G, Send a Cow) and maximising benefits
*Investigate feasibility and desirability of B Corp and Foundation

Personal Profile:
*Passionate about Travel and our impact on people and planet both overseas and in UK
*Have curiosity in ethics and striking the right, pragmatic balance between idealism and commercial reality
*Using heart and mind, able to build rapport and communicate effectively at all levels and show an ability to construct logical, credible and winning arguments that will persuade decision makers, the cynical and the neutral
*Comfortable making decisions and forming policy based on incomplete information andconflicting emotions
*A non-perfectionist who is happy to defend the unpopular and explain the complicated

EXPERIENCE:
*Demonstrable communication, organisational & interpersonal skills
*Proven ability to work to deadlines
*Team player
*High degree of literacy & numeracy
*Proven track record of involvement in responsible business
*Confident public speaking
*Project management
*Demonstrable results inside a product environment
*Knowledge of the travel market
