Do you have experience within Media / Public Relations? Have you previously worked in the Travel Industry and looking for your next exciting opportunity?
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Media Relations Executive within the Brand and Business Development department or a well-known travel brand based close to the City.
Summary of role:
The Senior Media Relations Executive will be responsible for both reactive and proactive media activity, managing press office enquiries, and developing media campaigns, with a focus primarily onconsumer and travel trade media.
Duties:
*To manage media enquiries in an effective and timely way, including drafting statements, Q&As and fielding media calls;
*To initiate and plan news stories and campaigns, in support of the company's broader activities and objectives;
*To write press releases, articles, reports and content to a very high standard, ensuring that they reflect the company style and messaging;
*To lead on developing and implementing media and PR initiatives for specificbusiness areas and topics e.g. events, business travel;
*To support senior spokespeople within the media team and across the organisation in providing clear briefings and messaging ahead of media interviews;
*To keep abreast of the news agenda and travel industry issues, proactively identifying media opportunities and story ideas;
*To play an active role in the media team indealing with crisis and issues incidents and working collaboratively with other team members and departments;
*To work with the Media & PR Manager to support proactive campaigns and content generation;
*To monitor, collate and evaluate media coverage, producing weekly updates for Members and staff, and reports for the company Board;
*Ensure that the Senior Management Teamand other departments are aware of the impact of particular initiatives and campaigns;
*To log media relations activity and follow team processes;
*To monitor editorial calendars and editorial requests to identify and pitch opportunities for the business to contribute;
*To build strong relationships with media contacts, industry partners and members - and keep contact listsup to date;
*Support senior colleagues with budgeting and reporting;
*Undertake any reasonable task that may be requested bythe Media & PR Manager or the Head of Media and PR; and
*To participate in an out of hours on-call rota to provide a 24/7press office (one week in four).
Skills and experience:
*Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to consistently produce high quality copy
*Experience of consumer, issues-based and B2B media relations
*Skills and experience in working in a busy press office, managing multiple requests and deadlines from journalists at a single time.
*Experience in monitoring and understanding the news agenda, identifying opportunities and risks.
*Experience of effectively targeting and pitching stories to journalists
*Writing of editorial material for both consumer and corporate audiences
*Understanding of digital and social channels
Package:
This role is a Monday - Friday position (flexible working hours) and paying asalary of up to £36,000.
