This group is open to all levels of players. Whether you were thinking of buying and learning the ukulele or if you are a seasoned player you will get something from the group. The songs are arranged specifically to be accessible to beginners but also have elements that are challenging for more experienced players.
What do we get up to in the sessions? One of the main goals of the group is to build up a repertoire of songs that we love. Usually a song is selected and agreed upon as a group and then Finn, the tutor, takes that away and makes an arrangement. The arrangements will include several different parts that come together to mimic the instruments and vocal on the original song. Finn is careful to ensure that while developing pieces he includes transferable techniques which will improve members overall playing skills and confidence.Having said all this, the bottom line is that we want the group to be as fun as it can possibly be! The group is a great chance to just relax and socialise with like-minded people will also be learning new skills.
Is this group right for me?We totally appreciate sometimes it’s hard to tell if something is going to be fun and a good fit for you just from a few paragraphs and pictures! You need to experience it! For this reason we encourage you to come down for a free first session and then we can have a chat about signing up if you enjoyed it.
What people say about this groupThe Ukulele Group is fab, Finn’s teaching style is great and the members are lovely and very welcoming. The arrangements of the songs are fun to learn and play (much better than the original songs in my opinion). I love learning the different parts (melody, harmony and chords), I’ve learnt loads of uke techniques and I feel my playing has greatly improved since I joined. I’d highly recommend this group.”
AdrienneI love going along to Finn’s ukulele group lesson. His arrangements are brilliant, and always sound beautiful. He is a patient teacher, which helps me to not panic with written instructions. I would recommend this group!
