Course outline

Week 1: Traditional & Modern Concepts of Health and Wellness  - Have we been led down the garden path?
Its no more a secret.  People know that the current medical system is not working.  In fact for many its been just the opposite.  We look in this first week at traditional concepts of health and well being and modern day health approaches and how we move forward in a holistic manner. 

 Week 2 : Stop digging your grave with your teeth: The Science of Nutrition & Live Food
The human being has been engineered in  such a way that in order for them to be at optimal levels they must feed on the kind of nutrition which best serve thei  requirements.  The onslaught of advertisements and marketing of products that have no health benefits whatsoever proves to be a major reason why we have so many lifestyle related illnesses like diabetes and its  related diseaes.  In this time its worthwhile taking the road less travelled, leaving behind the  distrcactions and  confusion and focusing on life giving natural alternatives.

Week 3: The Art & Science of Herbal medicine.  Have we thrown out the baby with the bathwater?
Herbal Medicine has been the No.1 Healing modality for humanity since we have  been on this planet.  Then Why in just the past hundred years or so have we seen a huge shift away from herbal medicine towards synthetic medicine?   Why are millions still dying of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, strokes  etc. Human beings did not survive this long without there being something to the use of  herbal medicine.  In fact it is the corner stone on which modern medicine is built.  Take this opportunity to reaquiant yourself with this age old knowledge of the healing benefits of the plant kingdom .

Week 8: Making Herbal Remedies from hebs in your kitchen

In this final week we'll be making simple home remedies from herbs you find in the kitchen or your garden.

More about the tutor: 

Marion Kandake Makonnen is perfectly placed to deliver this course as she brings over 30 years of traditional knowledge around holistic health and herbal medicine specifically which was gained through her years #  living as a vegetarian and a  practicing Holistic Healer.  She lived  in Jamaica for 15 of those years in a community totally emmersed in holistic living and amonst other cultural essentials, she learned about growing and preparing foods and herbs.   Kandake went on to study for a further 4 years in London  at the University of Westminster where she gained a Bsc (Hons) in Medical Herbalism which also qualifies her to also consult on nutrition. Kandake has 10 years clinical experience  in the private sector  and has been studying for the last 5 years with the Priest and Healers of the Dogomba tribe of West Africa.   In many way Kandake straddles two worlds, the traditional and the modern, the spiritual and the temporal but all aspects relate to Holsitic Health and  Herbal Medicine.  If you want authentic guidance  on your healing journey then your journey begins right here.
