Register Your Interest: Medical Cannabis Educational Seminar (Edinburgh)

The Chief Medical Officer and advisor to the UK government has recently agreed that cannabis is a medicine. It has now been removed from Schedule 1 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 to Schedule 2 allowing doctors to prescribe it. But few are doing so at present, meaning that tens of thousands of people with chronic illnesses are still resorting to “illegal” sources for their supply.

Please be advised that this is not an event booking. You will need to register your interest with a valid email address and you will be notified one week in advance of the event to confirm your attendance.

This event is free for General Practitioners; Nurse Practitioners, Prescribing Leads, other Prescribing Healthcare Professionals,  Specialists in Pain, Neurology, Psychiatry and Gut Disorders.

Delegates who meet our selection criteria only will be invited to attend.

We will write back to you, asking you to confirm your attendance at the event by Wednesday 24 July 2019.

This evening seminar, hosted by Drug Science, made possible through an unrestricted educational grant from Althea, will address the barriers that exist to prescribing medical cannabis. Including how to overcome the process of obtaining prescriptions. It will include information on its efficacy, and how to obtain certified supplies.

• The current UK regulatory position
• The current levels of scientific evidence in a range of diagnoses
• Practical steps in relation to prescribing

• Your attendance guarantees an opportunity to meet and share challenges with other medical practitioners and other experts in the UK.
• You will learn about Drug Science’s ambition to create medical cannabis clinical networks, accelerating access to patients who need it, and how you can become involved in this.

Prof David Nutt (chair)

Edmond J Safra chair in Neuropsychopharmacology at Imperial College London and director of the Neuropsychopharmacology Unit in the Division of Brain Sciences there.   Prof Nutt was a member of the Committee on Safety of Medicine, and was President of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology.
