TechWalk is an initiative designed to encourage tech workers to take some exercise and surround themselves with some nature. Join us on a beautiful walk through the countryside once a month and talk tech!

This month we walk from Bishopstone to Glynde with an optional extension to Lewes from there for people who are willing. There are some great views and an excellent country pub at Firle for a cheeky beverage.

Start point: Meet us at 2:50pm at Brighton Station (by the piano), with a return train ticket to Bishopstone (Sussex).

Optional end point: ~6:30pm at Glynde Station.

End point: ~8:00pm at Lewes Station.

We aim to be inclusive with these walks - if you'd like to bring your partner, children, dogs, we're very happy to see more faces.  We would ask that dogs are kept under appropriate control, especially around livestock, and that younger walkers are able to maintain a decent pace in order that we cover the route in the allotted time - rural stations have limited train services, so we need to ensure we remain on schedule in order that people are able to hit their evening commitments!

Many thanks to Sam for designing this month's route: https://www.plotaroute.com/route/890730

  • Meet at Brighton station at 2:50pm before taking a train to Bishopstone at 3:11pm.

  • Walk over to Glynde across the South Downs for ~7 miles (~3 hours including stop) passing through scenic Firle and stopping in at The Ram Inn for a swift drink.

  • Those that want to can catch a train from Glynde at 6:27pm back to Brighton.

  • We then carry on to Lewes ~3 miles (1 hour) for the opportunity to have another drink before catching a train back to Brighton. They are very regular so timing won't be an issue!

Obviously walks in the countryside are weather permitting for most, so a ‘plan B’ will also be decided for each walk, in the form of a local pub crawl around Brighton, in the event of heavy rain.
