Course Overview

Working with a film industry professional, prepare and work on monologues, duologues and scenes from a range of television, commercial and film genres.

You will:-

  • explore preparation exercises from a variety of acting practitioners with focus on developing imagination and creating believable performances
  • develop an understanding of the technical aspects of shooting a scene and how this affects performance
  • learn about castings and auditions for film, television and commercials
  • work in a rehearsal room with the use of a handheld camera

Please note, you do not produce a show reel as part of this course but you will get to see the footage that is produced throughout the course as part of the learning process.

The course is for.....
  • People who have taken Acting: An Introduction or have taken equivilent introductory acting classes elsewhere
  • Those that are new to screen acting
  • Those that are returning to screen acting who wish to brush up their skills
  • Those that are already working in the industry but who haven't trained before

Course Detail

Times: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7.00pm - 9.30pm for 8 weeks. The course consists of 16 sessions in total. 

Age: Minimum age is 18 on the first day of the course. No upper age limit. 

Language requirements: Applicants must be confident speaking and reading English to a conversational level (IELTS score of 7.0 or equivalent). Please note, you will be expected to read texts/scripts that may have advanced vocabulary in them on this course. 

Maximum class size: 16

Attendance: Due to the structure of the courses, and the colloborative nature of acting, full attendance is required.
