Suitable for beginners or those who have completed Introduction to Bookbinding 1.

Learn how to create handcrafted books from experts at the London Centre for Book Arts.

During this workshop participants will learn how to create by hand a single section, cloth covered case binding with a foil blocked title. A “case binding” is what most people commonly think of as a “hardback” book. A case binding consists of a section or multiple sections set between a hard front and a back cover and a spine.

These books are ideal for presenting work, sketchbooks, gifts, or as the basis for artist books.

On completion of the workshop students will leave with their own handmade book and the skills to make more at home using minimal equipment.

Introduction to Bookbinding 2 is the second in a four-part series of introductory bookbinding workshops at London Centre for Book Arts. You are encouraged, but not required, to take all four workshops in order. For a complete beginner, taking all four workshops in order will give you a good foundation in bookbinding.

All materials and tools provided.
