Plump Fiction, an exhibition of London based cross-generational artists in an unconventional space, an old Half-Way House called The George Tavern. The space acts as a halfway house between fiction and reality, displaying a multifaceted group of works. Whilst each individual’s work takes on different roles, through influences such as politics, history, film and music, the title of the show binds them together.

‘Plump Fiction’ refers of course to the cult film ‘Pulp Fiction’; displaying violence, pop culture and saturation, but constantly directs us towards materiality. Pulp Fiction was originally used to refer to cheap detective magazines printed on wood pulp paper. They were known for their bright colours and provocative imagery.
Plumpness; a word used to describe something shiny, round, full or healthy. However it points also to greed, sweat, drudge and heaviness. The artists selected for this show revel in this ambiguity and continue to pose important visual questions.
