Creating an authentic likeness of the human face is a core skill in the creation of facial prosthetics that blend seamlessly to the wearers features..

In this intensive 6 day course, you will receive hands-on,professional training from an established SFX Industry tutor, who will guide you through to steps of making an accurate facial replica. You will create your own face mask and will also undergo the process yourself, learning important safety techniques, materials, moulding, casting and finishing. We will then proceed to make a series of sectioned pieces which will be used to sculpt prosthetics such as noses, brows or chins. The final stages will involve the creation of a two-part compression mould, running the prosthetic appliances and application.

All materials are provided.PLEASE NOTE: AS YOU WILL ALSO UNDERGO THE FACECASTING PROCESS YOURSELF,YOU SHOULD WEAR OLD CLOTHES THAT YOU DON'T MIND GETTING SOILED AND KEEP MAKE-UP TO A MINIMUM.PIERCINGS ETC,MUST ALSO BE REMOVED PROR TO CASTING.IF YOU HAVE ANY ANXIETIES OR SUFFER FROM CLAUSTROPHOBIA,PLEASE CONTACT US FIRST PRIOR TO BOOKING! THIS PROCESS IS PERFECTLY SAFE AND MANY FIND IT QUITE RELAXING BUT IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS,DO GET IN TOUCH FIRST.

Spaces are extremly limited for these courses and class sizes are small.By maximising tutor to student support,we place a strong emphasis on quality over quantity when it comes to students work.

On this course you will learn:

  • Safe techniques for creating a realistic facecast and what materials to use.
  • Mould, cast and finish the human face.
  • Undergo the facecasting process yourself. This is important as you will gain an insight into what your models experience!
  • Create a corrected mould and breakdown the cast into sculpting sections
  • Sculpting form-fitting prosthetics & texturing techniques
  • Create a two-part compression mould and run silicon prosthetic appliances
  • Application of finished silicon prosthetics and makeup techniques

Its a lot of ground to cover, but it'll be a lot of fun.
