Position Available: Forestry and Transport Coordinator
Are you ready to join adynamic forestry team in Ireland and play a vital role in ensuring the efficient supply of timber to our clients sawmills? We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to become a key member of their team. Reporting directly to the Head of Forestry - Ireland, this role offers a unique blend of forestry management and transport coordination responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Forestry:
* Conduct log procurement activities, including valuations of forest lots and purchases from various sources.
* Manage forest site operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
* Oversee the Forest Service docket system and Forestry Purchasing System for efficient management.
* Handle sales of other forest products to thirdparties.
* Plan and schedule all log intake to the sawmills.
Transport / Logistics:
* Manage and plan transportation of sawn timber and forestry haulage.
* Coordinate residue materials, utilising external hauliers and providing monthly reports.* Recruit and set rates for log contractors, negotiate rates with transport companies, and optimise backloads.
* Monitor log stock, residues, and sawdust in the sawmills.
* Schedule harvesting operations effectively.
Industry:
* Represent thecompany at Coillte & FSNI quarterly reviews and industry events such as Teagasc Talking Timber & Tullamore Show.
* Participate in the Forest Industry Transport (FITG) committee.
Candidate Profile:
* Proven experience in log procurement within the forestry industry (desired but not essential)
* Experience coordinating external haulier companies.
* A relevant third-level qualification in forestry. (desirable but not essential)
* Self-starter with the ability to collaborate effectivelywithin a team.
* Familiarity with current legal requirements and guidelines pertaining to haulage.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent organisational abilities with attention to detail.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Membership of the Society of Irish Foresters or eligibility for membership (desirable but not essential)
* Possession of a full clean driving license and willingness to travel.
* Proficient IT skills.
