Description:

Superintendent/Supervising Pharmacist - Co. OffalyMAIN TASKS OF THE JOB:

* Lead and manage the Pharmacy team and provide ongoing communications on both personal and business performance and initiatives.
* Lead the professional, clinical, ethical and financial running of the pharmacy in line with company and industry regulations. This includes taking responsibility for the overall running of the pharmacy, with a view to growing the business and achieving store targets.
* Report to the owners on Pharmacy and staff performance. This will involve scheduled calls and regular email correspondence, in addition to contacting the owners for any time-sensitive issues.
* Operate the Pharmacy in accordance with all the legal requirements pertaining to the profession, in particular ensuring that all responsibilities associated with Superintendent Pharmacist and Supervising Pharmacist roles are fulfilled.
* Organise the economic staffing of the pharmacy, especially in relation to locum pharmacist cover, ensuring the cost of sourcing cover is kept to a minimum. As mentioned separately, locum cover must be organised prior to taking any leave.
* Development/updating policies and procedures in response to new business acquisitions or changing regulatory frameworks.
* Cold Chain Management and maintenance of GDP. Administration of vaccines to patients for influenza, Covid-19 and any other conditions which may arise.
* Liaise with thecompany, and implement changes and initiatives as they are rolled out by the company.
* Pro-active management of monthly claims and resolution of any rejected claims.
* When required, prepare financial claims.
* Maintain consistent professional standards always and ensure full compliance with all regulations, code of conduct, Statutory rules and professional guidelines to maintain the highest ethical standards and deliver excellent patient care.
* Perform any duties associated with supplying nursing homes with prescription and non-prescription items. This may include meetings in the nursing homes as and when requested by the nursing home.
* Provide information to medical, nursing and healthcare professionals and patients.
* Scheduling and DemandPlanning of pharmacy services.
* Maintain excellent stock control including; rotation of stock, maintaining appropriate stocklevels, using approved suppliers, and maintenance of the prescribed inventory control database.
* Ensure accurate records relating to the procurement, storage, quality control, dispensing, distribution, and destruction of medical products are maintainedin accordance with best practice standards and applicable legislation.
* To ensure the smooth running of the dispensary, including maintaining computer records and ensuring that the paperwork pertaining to the various programmes is kept up to date and in line with company procedures and good document management.
* Management of quality management systems including assistance with implementation and training of all existing policies and procedures for pharmacy staff.
* Maintain an appropriate Error Management system within the Pharmacy and ensure full adherence by staff.
* Maintain the principles of equity, accountability, quality and safety in daily work and ensure full compliance with all Health and Safety requirements.
* Be accountable for personal professional practice through regular engagement of continuing education and training to maintain a high level of competencyin clinical pharmacy. Fulfil the CPD requirements of the Pharmacy Regulator, The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland and the Irish Institute of Pharmacy (IIOP).
* Create, promote and maintain open communications and healthy working relationships with bothinternal and external stakeholders to further develop innovate services within the organisation.
* Manage any HR issues, ensuring they are dealt with sensitively and in a timely manner.
