My Client are an NHS Trust based in Gillingham, Kent and are seeking a Clinical Coder on an initial 9 month contract basis with (37.5 hours a week) paying £196.20 per day.

Job Summary

As an Accredited Clinical Coder here at Medway NHS Foundation Trust, you will be required to analyse and abstract complex clinical information from patient records across all specialties using a wide range of source documentation, and translate clinical terminology into a coded format in accordance with National Clinical Coding Standardsand Trust guidelines. Accurately coded clinical data is essential in ensuring Medway NHS Foundation Trust is accurately reimbursed, and to ensure health problems and procedures undertaken are accurately reflected for statistical purposes.
This role is avery important one to Medway NHS Foundation Trust and requires a committed and dedicated ethic that is in line with the departmental and Trust's vision and values.

Knowledge and Skills

* Thorough understanding of the latest National Clinical CodingStandards
* Detailed understanding of the Payment by Results (PbR)/National Tariff Payment System (NTPS) and Healthcare Resource Groups (HRGs)
* Detailed understanding of statistical uses of coded data including Hospital Standardised Mortality Ratio (HSMR)
* In-depth understanding of human anatomy
* Extensive knowledge of medical terminology
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Sound judgement and excellent analytical skills
* Ability to work logically and methodically
* Ability to work independently but also contribute in team activities
* Ability to communicate confidently and effectively both verbally andwritten
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a number of competing demands
* Good inter-personal skills with the ability to motivate and influence a range of professionals

Experience

* Practical experience of working ina clinical coding setting using ICD10 & OPCS in a large organisation.
* Coding experience in all clinical specialties
*Experience using encoder software and PAS systems
* Experience using various clinical systems including EPR
* Experience ofusing IT applications including Microsoft Office
* Experience working in high concentration/pressure situations maintaining high standards for long periods

Qualifications

* National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) (ACC degree level)
* Haspassed a Clinical Coding Refresher Course within the last 3 years
* Clinical Coding Standards Course
* Clinical Coding Workshops including: Neoplasms, Vascular, Obstetrics,T&O
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
