We are recruiting for a leading Water TreatmentCompany looking to add a Research and Development Process Scientist to their team!





Job Title - Research and Development Process Scientist

Area/Location - High Wycombe

Job Description

Where will I be working?

You will be based at our office and laboratories in Lane End, near High Wycombe.

What will I be doing?

ELGA designs and builds small-scale water purification systems for applications such as molecular biology, pharmaceutical research, trace analysis, clinical assays and sterilisation. This role will be working within the R&D process team on new water purification technologies and products on the laboratory scale. The work will primarily involve operating laboratory-scale test rigs, featuring new technologies, prototypes and finished products. Performance/stability monitoring, sample collection, chemical/microbiological analytical test work and preparing test reports are primary activities.

1 Operation of test equipment associated with new products and processes

Carry out pilot rig and finished product testwork and associated tasks.

* Involvement in the process design and testing of new products
* Collaborating in setting design/objectives of testwork, with time-scales
* Completion of practical work, data logging/processing.
* Accurate recording of experimental results, report writing and outcome presentation.
* Innovate, identifying, learning about & sourcing, technologies and components to create successful new processes.
* Running test programmes for new products/technologies.1 Project Support

* Acquire a detailed familiarity with the technologies used in water purification and with the ELGA range of products. Provide support to other team members.

1 Analytical Testwork

To participate in ensuring that an efficient analytical service is provided by the department

* Maintaining a good working knowledge of the appropriate analytical techniques.
* Operation of analytical equipment (such as ICP-MS and HPLC) to support project work
* Maintaining and developing Work Instructions for analytical methods and equipment.
* Carrying out maintenance, monitoring and calibration of laboratoryequipment.
* Liaising with third-party laboratories to outsource analysis as required

1 Other features of the job that require emphasis;

* A high degree of flexibility to enable us to react to changing priorities.
* Working in the R&D Department, information security and confidentiality are essential.
* High standards are required with regard to practical work;tidiness, cleanliness and safety are of paramount importance
* A willingness to learn chemistry, microbiology and chemical engineering in order to integrate well in our multidisciplinary team.
* After an initial period of training on products, technologies and lab procedures, the candidate will be assigned ownership of some projects and related testwork.



Requirements* A degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or similar technical qualification
* Experience of working in a laboratoryenvironment with a team of scientists/engineers for a minimum of one year after graduation.
* Practical knowledge of lab procedures and techniques, and analytical chemistry (beyond that gained at University).
* Strength in mathematics, to manipulate & analyse sets of numerical data is essential.
* Good communication skills, both verbal & written, with the confidenceto document and present test results and project outcomes.
* Attention to detail and ability to critique work of self and others (peer review) to maintain the high standards of work delivered by the department.
* A natural problem solver, using your own initiative to find solutions, as part of a team.
* Willingness and the ability to explore new ideas, with a desire to learnand develop
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise, working to deadlines
* Good practical skills and a hands on approach is essential.
* Having a practical hobby which can be illustrated at interview will be advantageous.
