Senior Development Scientist

I am delighted to be assisting this leading ,world class company which develops and produces consumer products within the Personal Care and HomeCare arena to recruit for a Senior Development Scientist . The role will be based at their modern state of the art facility inLiverpool.

This exciting new role will give the successful candidate a fantastic opportunity to combine leadership, analytical and equipment innovation, alongside excellent career development opportunities. The purpose of this job is to manage and support a small team of scientists (3), ensuring the team is operating at the highest quality and productivity standards.

The successful applicant shall also support the development of new product formulations through the use of high throughput automated systems and assist with the evaluation of the performance across different platforms.

In addition, the candidate will also havestrong logistic and technical skills as well as report writing and problem solving skills. It is expected the ideal candidate will work in a flexible manner exhibiting high energy, self-motivation and resourcefulness. Additionally, you will be able to think logically and have the ability to effectively collaborate with and communicate scientific ideas readily.



Requirements* Degree or above in a relevant scientific discipline (physical science, pharmacy, pharmacology, or related physical or biological science area)
* A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in performance evaluation of technologies/formulations within Personal Care and Home Care would be desirable.
* 1 year or more experience in a managerial role supporting a team is essential including conducting performance appraisal. Prior experience of mentoring and training of personnel would be beneficial.
* Relevant practical lab skills are essential as well as experience of key analytical techniques LC, GC/MS and SFC as well as DSC, DVS, DMA and TGA, SEM and Raman spectroscopy would be desirable.
* Ability to organise, schedule and plan requests from multiple clients to be progressed utilising various automated platforms with in line and off line detection systems.
* A keen interest inautomated systems and their functionality would be advantageous.
* Experience and understanding of reviewing and implementingDesign of Experiments and progression of automated runs including statistics and evaluate data to test hypotheses.
* Ability to maintain operational effectiveness of automated equipment and monitor / report intervention detail and frequency thereby off setting down time.
* Proven ability to manage Logistics, COSHH, Safety and be able to work flexibly.
* Excellent verbal and written skills, both internally and externally. Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships with colleagues driving collaboration.
* Passionate about quality and customer service is essential.
* Previous experience in the preparation and reviewand revision of documentation e.g. SOP's, Reports, and Protocols would be desirable.
* Automation & statistical data handling desirable
* Lean 6 - Sigma and experience of delivering process improvement would be desirable
