Job Purpose:

The Capital Project Manager will work in conjunction with the localmanagement team and the Group Capital Project Manager to manage and co-ordinate the planning and implementation of various capital and engineering projects in line with the approved project objectives.



Role and Responsibilities:

Under the general direction and control of the Group Capital Project Manager, the postholder will be responsible for the following:

* Ensuring that capital projects and refurbishments are completed within the time, cost and quality parameters in conjunction with allkey
* Ensuring that the concept, development, implementation and close-out of each assigned project is managed under recognised project management principles and procedures by:
* The direct and indirect preparation of plans, specifications and tender documents for the purpose of inviting tenders for minor refurbishment works and
* The preparation of draft project plans, costestimates and implementation schedules for the purpose of project option
* Providingregular technical and project management briefings to the Group Capital Project Manager and Hospital Project
* Ensuring the satisfactory delivery of the project and that appropriate meetings and consultations are held as
* Actingas a senior member of staff for the management of the project andhelping to resolve quickly such issues as may be for resolution and
* Ensuring that the brief is known to and understood by,in appropriate detail, all those who are likely to work in the new or changed
* Ensuringthat the design team is fully briefedwith the instructions of the hospital's Project Team and Group Capital Project
* Co-ordinating the tender and implementation stages of the project, having close liaison with the design team and site supervisory
* Ensuring that the equipping/commissioning team is established in good time and is adequately briefed and trained and is effectively supported in carrying out its work.* Anticipatingdifficulties and problems, especially those arising from phasing, variations, commissioning and vacating and ensuring that, where necessary, these are either resolved directly or brought to the notice of the hospital's Project Team for decisions or avoidable claims for delays, variations or extension of time claims
* Supervisingand being responsible for such staff as may be
* Daily monitoring of all active construction sites within the hospital complex and communication with the appointed PSDP &
* To communicate to all hospital departments and ward managers any known disruption to services or inconveniences as a consequence of construction/project work.
* Tocommunicate any known services shutdowns to the hospital's facility manager, as to assist in the implementation of such shutdowns where deemed appropriate
* Thecompilation of lists of uncompleted works (snag-lists) at the closeout stage of all hospital minor/major
* The daily inspection of work in progress on site on all minor and major projects on
* Thepresentation of regular updates to the hospital's Project Team and Group Capital Project Manager for each project on hand under the headings "time, cost, quality, Safety".
* The maintenance and upkeep of all relevant project files and other information
* The update of all project schedules/
* The coordination and handover or all relevant O&M Manuals, as-built plans, and technical information relevant to each completed project to the hospital's maintenance department and department manager if deemed
* To monitor and record all changes from the original project plan on all major and minor hospital
* Themonitoring of the value of work agreed and in progress against the hospital's approved refurbishment budget in association with the hospital's Maintenance and Finance Managers and Group Capital Project
* To assist in the orderly phasing ofeach development and the smooth transfer of staff and services by establishment of appropriate arrangements to keep operationalmanagement and senior staff informed of plans, as they are proposed or
* Participate in internal audits and the implementation of recommendations from internal audit reports as
* Operate flexibly and creatively, in response to service requirements andchanging circumstances and undertake any other duties that may be required from time to time
Requirements:

Essential: The successful Project Manager applicants must have

* Construction Project Management Experience
* Relevant Constuction Degreeor Trade Qualification
* Strong leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills
* Relevant general management and project management experience
* Demonstrable ability to produce and manage budgets

Desirable:

* Experience in the management ofcomplex, multi-disciplinary projects preferably in a Healthcare environment
* Self starter with ability to work on their own initiative
* Experience implementing the Construction Regulations in the role of PSDP or PSCS
* Experience in the delivery ofSafety Management Systems
* A good working knowledge of applicable National and European safety, planning and environmental legislation.
* Demonstrable understanding of good Project Management Procedures.
