AWS DevOps Team Lead - Remote Working From Anywhere Within The UK - Salary £55,000 - £65,000 pa Plus Benefits - Previous People Leadership skills preferred but not essential.
This exciting International Software corporate in Birmingham is seeking a motivated AWS DevOps Team Lead to join them in a brand new role, leading a growing team of DevOps Engineers.
The AWS DevOps Team Lead will play an important role in the evolution of how the business currently views infrastructure and application hosting, using your AWS knowledge & skills to influence and drives changes that will deliver a Cloud first approach.
Working collaboratively with software engineering, the AWS DevOps Team Lead will guide the business to deploy and operate systems, help automate and streamline operations and processes, build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and troubleshooting, together with resolving issues in the Development, Test and Production environments.Responsibilities:
* Working with the leadership team on systems development projects which support the organisation's objectives and plans.
* Monitoring and reporting on progress of systems development projects, using appropriate QA processes to ensure that projects are carried out to agreed standards, methods and procedures.
* Designing, coding, testing, correcting anddocumenting large or complex programs and program modifications from supplied specifications using agreed standards and tools.* Partaking in reviews of your own and colleagues work, including both formal code inspection and informal peer-coding activities.
* Contributing to the availability management process and its operation.
* Analysing service and component availability,reliability, maintainability and serviceability. Ensuring services and components meet and continue to meet their agreed performance targets and service levels.
* Implementing arrangements for disaster recovery, documenting recovery procedures and conducting testing of recovery procedures.
* Performing defined tasks to monitor service delivery against service level agreementsand maintaining records of relevant information.
* Managing configuration items (CIs) and related information. Applying and maintaining tools, techniques and processes for identification, classification and control of CIs and ensuring related informationis complete, current and accurate.
* Assessing and analysing release components, providing input to scheduling. Carrying outbuilds and tests in coordination with testers and component specialists maintaining and administering the tools and methods - manual or automatic - and ensuring, where possible, information exchange with configuration management.
* Ensuring release processes and procedures are maintained.
* Reviewing system software updates and identifying those that require action. Tailoringsystem software to maximise hardware functionality. Installing and testing new versions of system software.
* Investigating and coordinating the resolution of potential and actual service problems.
* Providing technical expertise to enable the correctapplication of operational procedures. Using network management tools to determine network load and performance statistics.
*Using database management system software and tools to investigate problems and collect performance statistics and create reports. Carrying out routine configuration/installation and reconfiguration of database and related products.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
* Strong Hands-On DevOps skills & experience required
* Solid AWS experience needed - additional Azure skills are useful but not essential
* Previous experience of leading a team is preferred but am also open to strong AWS Engineers looking to move into a team lead role.
* Cloud Hosting experience using AWS
* Specific experience of taking applications from the Data Centre into AWS and delivering the full business benefits would be ideal
* Docker skills preferred, althoughother containerisation tools will suffice
* CloudFormation or other automation tools experience
* Powershell
