Severn Trent is building a new pumping station at Lickhill as part of the Birmingham Resilience Project.HAC (now part of SOLID) carried out stress analysis of the pipework. The pipework and the surge vessels were modeled with the main structure to simulate the support conditions which induced additional stresses in the pipework. Areas of pipework with concentrated stress were identified for further elastic-plastic analysis by a specialist consultant.
