Introducing a presentation by the 2019 BCS University Award winners, speaking on their winning projects...

Speaker: Govind Venkatesh - University of Sussex

Rust as a Games Programming language aims to explore the viability of the Rust programming language for games programming. This is accomplished through an analysis of the development process and the creation of a sub-module of a game engine in Rust. The implementation in Rust is then compared through low-level benchmarks with equivalent modules written in C++ (the industry standard programming language). Finally after a discussion and comparison of the results, it is found that Rust is a good language for small to medium sized games but not so much for big budget games.
