Our goal with this event is to help connect folks in senior leadership roles from fast growing companies and facilitate round table conversations on topics like cloud, machine learning and AI and many others. We welcome participation from all individuals who represent and/or are actively perpetuating diversity and inclusion efforts in the tech industry.

Ethics in AI

The talk will be about some of the considerations and challenges that we face when we create AI systems. As our implicit biases find their way into our data, and into AI, there is an inherent challenge with data not being neutral. This creates a need for diversity throughout the process in which these systems are being created and infused into the products we engage with. This is to ensure we are asking the right questions when we create these systems. During this talk I will talk about 2 trends to rethink how we approach building these systems – learning from scientific methods, that are globally consistent; and, a rethinking of IT operations and software best practices. I will also discuss my own personal journey into the data space, as well as some thoughts on building diverse Data teams. Our hope is that we share stories, listen to new ideas, and come away a larger and more inspired community.
