Pulling and distortion of the normal macular structure is called vitreomacular traction (VMT), and this can result in distorted and/or blurred vision. The VMT may affect the other eye and is common in people with macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease in later years.
Treatment for vitreomacular traction is only required in those cases where the vision has been affected.
