FRS Recruitment is now working in partnership with a leading Irish Agri Food Business and inviting applications for the newly created role of Group Veterinarian (Pig/Swine). Indeed, this is a full-time permanent role offering competitive benefits and career progression.

Our client is a large independent Pig Farm business that owns and manages a large number of pigs across anarray of farm locations. It's a fully integrated business that produces and manages the pigs from birth to finishing.

Our client is now seeking to employ a Vet for its Farms business across multiple sites in ROI.

The ideal candidate will hold a DVMand have 3-5 years post college experience in dealing with farm animals. Although this role specializes in Pigs/Swine, we will also consider candidates with backgrounds in Bovine, Ovine and Poultry and Large Farm Animals.

Report:

Reporting to the Head of Farms and Pig Procurement, you will work closely with the Farms Operations Manager and the Head of Technical for the Group.The VET will operate as part of a wider support team including the Farms Accountant, HR Business Partner, Environmental manager, H&S Partner, Quality and Technical advisor and continuous improvement (LEAN) coordinator, to ensure compliance with allthe various regulatory requirements and to drive performance.

To note, Each farm or group of farms is managed by a Farm manager and you will work closely with them also.

The main responsibilities include:

* Control the health of animals across the group farms, designing and implementing a health plan for each farm.
* Manage and control use of antibiotics across all farms including, procurement, and dispensing procedures to farms.
* Monitor effectiveness of antibiotic use.
* Review the effectiveness of various health interventions and their impact health and production.
* Support reproductive activities and procedures.
* Provide advice and guidance to farm managers on animal health. Set out actions at each stage of the process to improvebirth rates and reduce deaths.
* Provide certification and documentation as required in line with regulations.
* Implement disease control procedures to reduce disease and to address any outbreaks or negative results.
* Develop and implement processes and procedures to standardize across farms items of animal health
* Represent the company in relation to animal health and associated issues
* Liaise and manage where necessary other veterinarian interventions across farms.
* Make recommendations to improve performance and health of pigs across farms
* Advising on diet formulation to maximise growth, reproduction, healthand/or performance.
* Input into weekly and monthly reporting on performance and animal health.
* Drive innovation and development of farms, throughout all processes, enhancing technology, reporting and performance.
* Maintain best practice animal welfare.
* Manage relevant licenses
* Control cost of medications through the development of cost effective purchasing modelsRequirements

* Hold a qualification in veterinary medicine, which is eligible for registration with the VeterinaryCouncil of Ireland (VCI)
* Min of 3-5 years experience

1 Experience of working with large farm animals
2 Experience ofworking on farms

* Knowledge of the legislative and department of agricultural standards.
* Experience of working in animal slaughter and an understanding of the requirements and standards an advantage.
