FRS Recruitment is now inviting applications for the role of Head of Veterinary Services on behalf of our client, one of the leading Dairy farm management and processing companies in the UAE, United Arab Emirates.

Indeed,this is a newly created role which will see you lead a team of several vets across 4 farms and inclusive of a 20,000 dairy cow operation. Furthermore, our client has invested heavily in acquiring state-of-the-art production lines, enabling faster reach tomarket and have launched several new product categories.

For this role you will hold a certified DVM (Doctorate in VeterinaryMedicine), and come with 10+ years' experience in a high production Dairy animal health environment. You will also have demonstrated experience of leading teams towards mutually aligned goals.

The Role

* To safeguard the biological assets of the company and help facilitate optimum yield of high quality milk from the herd by implementing "best practice" herd health protocols.
* Lead a team of veterinarians and laboratory diagnostic staff with responsibility for the health and welfare of over 20,000 dairy cattle housed on 4 sites.
* Review update and enhance Bio-security programs including whole herd immunization, security fencing as wellas entrance policies and procedures.
* Document and implement appropriate disease surveillance programs giving priority to diseases which pose the greatest economic threat to the company.
* Document and implement appropriate disease eradication programs to deal with existing health challenges.
* Review and update SOPs (standard operating procedures) for all herd health related processes and activities.
* Oversee all herd health related processes and activities within the farms, providing direction,training and coaching to Farm based staff.
* Formalize annual training plans for employees in your section, beginning with anindividual training needs assessment for each employee.
* Assume responsibility for all veterinary medicines, vaccines and equipment of the farm including maintenance of adequate stocks, correct storage and security of the stocks.
* Coordinate an upgrade of diagnostic capabilities at a central location.
* Maintain tight control of herd health related costs, focusing of efficient but cost-effective remedies and ensuring zero expired or obsolete stocks.
* Ensure the implementation of group health andsafety standards and play a leading role in ensuring a strong health and safety culture both within the herd health teams.
*Oversee breeding protocols with the objectives of optimizing calving intervals, accelerating genetic improvements, adjusting seasonality of production, and planning for future herd expansion.
* Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.* Identify new technologies and access their potential to improve efficiency.
