Position: Product Engineer
Location: Huddersfield
Job Type: 12-month Assignment (with possibility of extension)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 2-3 days in the office perweek
The company:
A leading company in the automotive industry, committed to innovation and excellence. Our Huddersfield site is seeking a talented Product Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Product Engineer, you will be involved in the life stages of exciting Turbocharger projects, from design through to test validation.
Responsibilities:
* Investigate product problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, and document results with guidance from experienced team members.
* Work in the business processes of Product Preceding Technology (PPT), Value Package Introduction (VPI), orCurrent Product Support (CPS) and execute technical processes such as Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, Failure IncidentReview Group (FIRG), and more.
* Collaborate with product line engineers, customer teams, systems engineers, purchasing, suppliers, and manufacturing to coordinate and make informed decisions that lead to quality product outcomes.
* Apply academic knowledge and existing experience to progress projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables without compromising on quality expectations.
* Take ownership of problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, and services, demonstratingtechnical expertise and accountability.
* Contribute effectively to team goals, influence within the work group, and continuously develop proficiency in critical competency areas.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* General mechanical engineering experience is essential; previous automotive experience is not necessary.
* Ideally, you have experience in rotating machinery of some type.
* Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
* Ability to understand and follow instructions and work independently.
* Strong problem-solvingskills and attention to detail.
