Key Duties andResponsibilities:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and advancing ourproduct designs. Your responsibilities will include:
* Leading the design of customised solutions to ensure our company remains at the forefront of our industry.
* Conducting thorough research on industry trends and developments to inform design decisions.
* Collaborating closely with Sales, Service, Engineering, and Suppliers to understand customer needs, analyse competitors, and position our products effectively.
* Taking ownership of design projects from conception to installation, ensuring accuracy and effective communication with stakeholders throughout.
* Maintaining strong communication with strategic customers, analysing production processes, and identifying opportunities for design improvements.
* Developing and testing design models,layouts, and enhancements in collaboration with suppliers.
* Maintaining an up-to-date CAD library (SolidWorks) of machine andline layout drawings.
* Promoting a positive attitude and embodying our brand values at all times.
* Upholding the best interests of the company and operating within legal and regulatory frameworks.
Necessary Qualifications/Skills:
* Bachelor's degree or HNC in an Engineering discipline, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
* Proven track record as a Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably in capital equipment or special purpose machinery design.
* Experience with gearboxes, motors, pneumatic cylinders, and bearings integration into machinery.
* Proficiency in Solidworks 3D software or similar design packages for detailed drawings.
* Collaborative team player with a hands-on approach and commitment to accuracy.
* Ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively within a small design department.
* Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Note: Travel to customer sites may be required (20%+)
