Senior Network Engineer | Network Infrastructure | Gibraltar | Onsite
Senior Network Engineer required for an exciting technology and networking company based in Gibraltar. The Network Engineering team handles the global network infrastructure.As a network engineer, you will troubleshoot network related issues for both our internal and external customers as well as assisting in the management of the data centre and its associated infrastructure. You will work closely with the third line team totackle complex problems and use your own initiative to meet the varying demands of the role.

What You Will Be Doing
*
Troubleshoot network and infrastructure related issues
*
Create and maintain technical documentation
*
Maintain a security mindset to mitigate potential threats
*
Work with other departments to design and maintain hardware solutions
*
Deal with incidents in a professional and courteous manner over the phone and via email
*
Take ownership of incidents managing them in a logical and methodical manner
*
Correctly logging incidents and requests, categorising and prioritising them in line with team procedures
*
Identify and escalate re-occurring issues, documents and update the knowledge base as appropriate
*
Conduct full and thorough diagnostics with customers to enable first point of contact fault
*

*
Ensure all incidents and requests are progressed & cleared within SLA - escalating toother
*
internal and external teams as appropriate
*
Liaise with vendors where necessary in order to resolve vendorrelated issues
What You Will Need to Succeed In This Role
*
Previous experience in ISP/Telecoms business preferred or in a process-driven provisioning industry (e.g. utilities)
*
Able to relate to people at all levels and conveycomplex technical information in an understandable manner
*
Good knowledge of general IPv4 technologies and products
*Knowledge in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco hardware Routers and Switches in a LAN & WAN environment
*
Familiarity with Cisco IOS environment, router and switch hardware platforms
*
Basic to medium knowledge with common networking protocols/technologies: Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLAN, STP, OSPF, BGP
*
Basic knowledge of SMTP, DNS, SNMP, DHCP, RADIUS, MySQL*
Experience with network monitoring and ticketing tools
*
Basic knowledge of broadband access technologies with focus on optical fiber connectivity;
*
SLA and network resiliency concepts knowledge
