Key Duties and Responsibilities
The CNS in Oncology has a pivotal role in the co-ordination and management of outpatients and services within the Oncology department.
The person holding this post at Bon Secours Dublin is required to supportthe principle of patient centred care the patient comes first at all times and will approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree, whilst working as part of the Oncology Team.
The post holder will need to be proactive in pioneering and developing the role in response to the challenges around on going healthcare needs of those who attend the service.

Clinical Focus
The CNS in Oncology will;
Provide nursing expertise to patients and theirfamilies at the main points of contact i.e. Outpatient setting in the Oncology department. Will provide telephone advice when need arises too.
Plan, assist and assess patient care in collaboration with the oncology team.
To provide expert assistanceto the Consultants, and other staff using specialist skills e.g. chemotherapy, patient education etc
Maintain confidential,accurate and complete patient records.
Ensure Hospital policies and procedures and National guidelines pertaining to oncologynursing are adhered to.
In conjunction with the Consultants and ADON with responsibility for the area, devise and update written protocols for patients requiring treatment aimed at maximizing quality of patient care in accordance with JCI Accreditation. Where necessary make recommendations to improve service.
To help develop appropriate Policies, Procedures and Guidelines tosupport practice and service. This includes the development of competencies in relevant areas
Essential Criteria
* You must have an NMBI Registered General Nurse licence (Ireland) which is in good standing with an NMBI pin from Ireland in order tobe considered for this position.
* You also need to be eligible to work in Ireland and have a current work permit/visa.
* Formal recognised post-registration education relevant to the area of specialist practice (Oncology) at level 8 (Higher Diploma) according to the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), National Framework
* Candidates without the relevant post-graduate level 8 specialist course will be appointed as Clinical Nurse Manager II initially, but must agree to complete within an agreed timeframe
* 5 years post-registration experience in the acute hospital setting within the last 7 years.
* A minimum of 2 years experience in the specialist area - Oncology
