Description:
The role of the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 in the Endoscopy unit entails overseeing and coordinating activities and resources within the unit to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and efficient healthcare services to patients and colleagues.
As a member of the nursing team Hospital's Endoscopy Unit, the primary responsibility is to provide exceptional, patient-centered care to patients and their families. This includes establishing strong relationships with multidisciplinary team members, collaborating closely with fellow nurses to introduce innovative practices, and acquiring specialized knowledge in Endoscopy nursing.
General Responsibilities:
1. Supervise patient care, maintaining the highest professional standards, andutilizing evidence-based care planning.
2. Provide strong clinical leadership.
3. Deliver safe, comprehensive nursing care inaccordance with NMBI guidelines (Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland).
4. Actively engage in team meetings and committees, working in collaboration with team members.
5. Foster coordination, cooperation, and communication across healthcare teams.6. Plan and organize Endoscopy schedules with the support of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON).
7. Oversee day-to-day operations of the endoscopy team.
8. Lead in the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based policies, guidelines, and procedures for the unit.
9. Take the lead in the accreditation process, including CHKS, JCI, and JAG accreditation.
10. Strive to achieve JAG accreditation for Hospital.
11. Stay updated on nursing research and developments through continuous professional development.
12. Promote a high standard of professionalism among colleagues and staff.
13. Efficiently manage allresources, including equipment and supplies, and ensure their safe and appropriate use.
14. Ensure effective communication within the department and promote teamwork.
15. Provide staff leadership and motivation for a positive work environment and performance.
16. Oversee the handling of equipment and maintain accurate patient records.
17. Monitor the safe and economic use of supplies and handle stock management.
18. Assist with various procedures and maintain adherence to relevant policies and standards.
19. Report learning opportunities or incidents on the hospital reporting system.
20. Develop and implement a staff development and induction program for the clinical area.
21. Identify opportunities for staff professional development.
Managerial Responsibilities:
1. Supervise, coordinate, and allocate work to nursing and support staff to ensure optimal care delivery.
2. Manage communication at ward and departmental levels, fostering teamwork.
3. Provide staff leadership and motivation for effective performance.
4. Efficiently manage all resources.
5. Lead in practice development within the clinical area.
6. Drive and implement change initiatives.
7. Contribute to the development of nursing policies and procedures.
8. Participate actively in the Nursing Management structure and act as a deputy when required.
9. Maintain necessary clinical and administrative recordsand reporting arrangements.
10. Conduct the Engagement and Competency Process with department staff.
11. Familiarize oneselfwith the National Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Quality Improvement (NEQI) Programme.
Professional Accountability and Development:
1. Stay professionally updated and ensure care aligns with the latest research and evidence-based practice.
2. Promote asupportive learning environment for staff's educational and professional development.
3. Ensure compliance with statutory rules, guidelines, and legislation.
4. Safeguard care standards and emphasize high-quality care.
5. Serve as a positive role modelfor the hospital's ethos.
6. Attend all mandatory and desirable training and relevant conferences related to endoscopy.
Quality & Audit:
1. Participate in and, when required, lead clinical audits and research activities.
2. Undertake research and clinical audits, analyze findings, and provide written reports.
3. Contribute to local audits in preparation for annual accreditation.
4. Collaborate with the Quality and Patient Safety team to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
5. Participate in the NEQI Programme.
Health and Safety:
1. Adhere to Hospital's policies concerning Fire, Infection Control, Radiation Safety, and Health and Safety.
2. Identify potential risks and follow incident reporting procedures.
3. Prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of all stakeholders in the hospital.
Qualifications & Experience:
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
1. Registered as a general nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
2. Minimum of 2 years of management experience in a busy endoscopy service.
3. Prior experience in a private healthcare setting is advantageous.
4. Familiarity with JAG accreditation is desirable.
5. Demonstrated leadership skills and the abilityto influence others.
6. Experience with quality audit/assurance systems.
7. Proficient communication skills.
8. Evidence of participation in an accreditation process is desirable.
