Job Overview:
My client is currently looking for a pivotal role, the Director ofNursing, ensuring the delivery of safe, patient-centered, and high-quality healthcare services. This position demands exemplaryleadership and collaborative skills to engage with colleagues across the hospital. The Director of Nursing is responsible for providing strategic, professional, and clinical leadership to the nursing multidisciplinary team, driving continuous quality improvement, and facilitating the necessary change leadership to meet organizational objectives. Additionally, this role entails overseeing financial budgeting, workforce planning, staffing structures, skill mix, clinical competence, and operational efficiencyacross the nursing department. The primary focus is on enhancing the patient experience and care quality while upholding the values and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards such as CHKS and JCI.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure efficient and effective nursing service delivery, emphasizing quality care, positive patient experiences, performance management, and productivity.
- Collaborate with the quality team to promote a culture of high-quality standards and maintain compliance with accreditation requirements.
- Work closely with the Leadership Team to develop and implement business continuity and emergency plans.
- Develop and execute strategic plans for nursing services aligned with organizational goals, ensuring cost-effectiveoperations and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Achieve recruitment and retention goals in line with the hospital'sstrategy.
- Oversee the development of comprehensive reporting and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead transformative changes to align with the hospital's strategic objectives.
- Engage clinicians in the evolution and enhancement of clinical services to optimize patient outcomes.
Leadership:
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to the nursing team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, and ensuring staff are motivated, engaged, and supported in achieving organizational goals.
- Collaborate with executive colleagues to develop succession planning and talent management strategies within nursing and other areas.
- Promote an environment conducive to best practices, staff retention, and open communication.
- Ensure that service delivery models meet international best practices, are financially sustainable, efficient, and satisfactory topatients and service users.
- Cultivate a culture of accountability, responsibility, and authority among staff within their scope of practice or role.
Financial:
- Manage the budget portfolio related to the role's functions.
- Be accountable for thefinancial performance of the nursing department.
- Manage staffing requirements and control agency spending within budgeted limits.
- Analyze financial data to ensure all operations remain within budget.
Development, Learning & Education:
- Ensure nursing staff have access to training, development, and continuing education opportunities, promoting ongoing professional growth and supporting career advancement.
- Take personal responsibility for professional development and stay updated on evidence-based practices and research.
Quality Improvement and Risk Management:
- Lead the development and ensure compliance with hospital guidelines, policies, procedures, and relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Encourage a safety culture, conduct regular audits, and engage with the multidisciplinary team to evaluate and enhance policies and practices.
- Promote continuous quality improvement, establish improvement programs and initiatives, monitor and report quality metrics, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with nursing and quality leads to set and monitor objectives, standards, and key performance indicators, both internally and externally as applicable.
- Provide clinical nursing leadership in addressing ethical and service quality issues with the multidisciplinary team and hospital management.
Qualifications & Experience:- Registered in the general division of the Nurses Register maintained by NMBI.
- A Master's level education in Healthcare, Business, or a related field is desirable.
- Minimum of five years' experience in a senior management role in a similar healthcareenvironment.
- Extensive experience in leading successful change initiatives in a patient-centered care delivery setting.
- Proven ability to deliver high levels of productivity and efficiency.
- Proficiency in financial management and control.
- In-depth knowledge of organizational management and development.
- Track record of positive team engagement.
