Description:

The primary responsibility of CNMI is to deliver safe and effective patient care while playing a crucial role in serviceplanning, coordination, and resource management within the clinical area. CNMI, in collaboration with CNMII, will coordinate andlead the implementation of high-quality care.

Ensure the provision of secure and comprehensive nursing care to patients, adhering to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland's guidelines.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Professional/ClinicalCNMI will:

* Manage patient care to uphold the highest professional standards, utilizing evidence-based care planning techniques.
* Provide robust professional and clinical leadership.
* Take charge of coordinating, assessing, planning, delivering, and reviewing patient care by all staff in the designated area.
* Deliver secure, comprehensive nursing care to service users in line with NMBI guidelines.
* Participate in relevant team meetings/committees, fostering effective communication and cooperation with other team members. Collaborate with patients, families, caregivers, and staff in treatment and care. Assess, plan, execute, and assess nursing care directly and by supervising other qualified nurses.
* Ensure that the team's care adheresto evidence-based practice standards and hospital policies. Foster positive relationships with patients, families, and caregivers while creating a welcoming environment in the ward. Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team to promote teamwork and excellent patient care.
* Evaluate and contribute to the development of the department's philosophy, objectives, and goals alongside the line manager. Ensure familiarity among staff with equipment usage and maintenance to sustain good working conditions.Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient/resident information. Manage individual caseloads according to post requirements.
* Promote evidence-based practice through care planning approaches to nursing. Participate in relevant teams, effectivelycommunicating and cooperating with fellow team members. Effectively communicate assessment results, treatment/care programs, andrecommendations following hospital policy.
* Participate actively in patient discharge planning. Assist in providing staff leadership and motivation to foster good staff relationships and performance.

Managerial Responsibilities:

CNMI will overseethe supervision, coordination, and deployment of nursing and support staff to optimize care delivery in the designated area. This includes fair and competent work allocation and exercising authority in assigned area(s) when deputized by CNMII. Actively engage in the Nursing Management structure, supporting CNMII, and deputizing in their absence when required. Manage communicationat ward and department levels while facilitating team cohesion. Provide leadership and motivation to staff to enhance working relations and performance. Effectively manage all resources. Drive practice development within the clinical area. Lead and implement change initiatives. Promote, facilitate, and participate in nursing policy and procedure development. Contribute to the formulation, development, and implementation of policies and procedures at area and hospital levels. Maintain all necessary clinicaland administrative records and reporting procedures. Ensure staff development and induction programs for both trained and untrained staff in the clinical area.

Clinical Governance:

Participate in innovative approaches to patient care delivery, contributing to service planning based on best practices and new research findings. Contribute to setting professional standards and cooperate with the need for care effectiveness measurement and auditing to ensure quality care. Uphold clinical governance principles including quality, risk, and health & safety within their work area. Accurately record and report incidents, near misses, or verbal complaints following Hospital Policy. Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines to support research best practices.



Qualifications & Skills

* Registered or eligible for registration in the General Division of the live Register of Nurses by NMBI.
* Minimum of 3 years' experience post-qualification within the relevant environment.
* Previous management or CNM2 deputizing experience is advantageous. Completion of a Management/Leadership Course or commitment to undertaking one.
* Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development. Awareness of HR policies and procedures. Working knowledge of Microsoft packages is beneficial. Experience in change management within the area of work. Activeinvolvement in the hospital's continuous improvement program using lean tools and methodology. Possession of excellent communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in clinical audit practices.
