Job Summary
The postholder will help deliver a comprehensive plan for the development of business
cases and the implementation of the extensive capital programme across the 3 complex
sites.
This role is critical in the implementation of the MSB Hospital Group and thewider STP
broad portfolio of organisational transformation, through the delivery of all estates
related capital investment that underpins the three hospital trusts' shared strategy
across clinical, clinical support and cooperate services.
The post-holder will manage projects in a diverse capital programme as part of a multiyear portfolio of projects, with a value of c. £200m to £300m over the next five years.
Projects range from minor works and backlog investment projects to major schemes of
potentially £10m to £50m.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Manage and implement the Joint Capital Investment Programme for the MSB Group of hospitals.
* Work with the site Capital Project teams across all three sites to deliver major Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure projects within the existing retained estates and future developments. To maintain a continuous dialogue with the Group Director, Head of Capital Delivery and the Senior Capital Projects Managers.
* To investigate new technologies that will reduce the Trust s Energy consumption and resilience on all sites and act as a link between the site teams to develop and implement new technologies and to promote the exchange of knowledge across the sites.
* In conjunction with the other Senior Project Managers to promote within the teams working towards uniformity of equipment standards and best practice that willenhance the delivery of high standard innovative cost affective projects that will improve the environment for patients, staff and visitors.
* Have an in-depth knowledge of complex Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure services complemented by an understanding of other disciplines associated large establishments ideally with several years of experience gained within an acute Hospital environment.
Experience
* Previous experience of estates project management in the NHS or equivalent complex organisation.
* Experience in planning and delivering multiple projects within a complex programme over multiple years of investment.
* Extensive knowledge of the strategic approaches to construction project delivery in the public centre for example the use of frameworks, partnering, PFI, LIFT and P22
* Confident in the use of spreadsheets and project planning software.
* Experience of managing mixed delivery teams, including contractors and consultants to achieve a successful outcome
Qualifications/Skills
* Masters level Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
* Specialist knowledgebacked by extensive experience in the delivery of complex programmes of estates capital investment.
* Project Management Qualification e.g. MSP, Prince 2 or equivalent experience.
* Ability to develop good working relationships with stakeholders both internal and external to the Group
* Post Graduate Qualification in construction, healthcare planning
