Description:
On behalf of an IT Managed Services provider, I am looking to hire a IT Engineer (Hosting Systems) to support a major security and defence end client.
Location: Mostly Remote with very occasional visit to site
IR35 Status: Awaiting SDS
*You must hold a valid Security Clearance for this role*
What will you be doing?
* Provide specialist technicalsupport to shipbuilder installation, integration activities and commissioning activities (included in-service refitting authorities). Understand the customer Operational Defect (OPDEF) and maintenance processes to be able to provide specialist technical advice as required.
* Provide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from suppliers through to system acceptance by the customer.
* Support the documentation of domain knowledge and ableto pass on information and expertise in order to help grow the knowledge base within appropriate business teams.
* Provide technical guidance to other combat system engineers and support the engineering management team in planning and controlling specialist activities.
* responsible for creating concise technical documentation, Infrastructure architecture diagrams, Test and evaluation reports, and Operational procedures
* Capture and agree technical requirements in accordance with company and programme processes.
* Design documentation generated, captured, configured and controlled in accordance with company processes.
* Design change requirements and documentation generated, captured, configured and controlled in accordance with company processes.* Capture and agree input to appropriate Verification Cross-Reference Index (VCRI), Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance Plans (ITEAP) and Qualification Plans.
Skills/Experience required:
* Proven experience with developing and testing ITsolutions for the End User Compute (EUC) environment, is essential
* Ability to respond to technical queries and perform troubleshooting investigations where necessary, with full root-cause analysis and rectification plan creation, is essential.
* Developing and testing Virtual desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions, would be advantageous
* Developing hyper-v infrastructureand testing Virtual Machine solutions
* Knowledge of Infrastructure hardware (physical rack mounted equipment)
* Bill of materials analysis/management
* Any experience with administration functions within a virtualised environment- including virtualresource management, fault-tolerance (migration, snapshots, allocation), clustering and performance monitoring, would be very beneficial.
* Administration or Orchestration tools (automation, scripting Bash, Python, PowerShell etc) is a must-have.
* Server operating system administration (Windows and Linux).
* Any experience with containerised software applications (Docker etc) would be advantageous.
* Experience with HCI (human computer interfaces) / System Usability.
* Cabling/patching (Ethernetand Fibre), cable management, clear labelling and patch diagrams.
* Configuration and management of hardware and software.
*Design/architectures and topologies.
