8 Week Course on Thursdays at 7.30pm

Thursday 17th October to Thursday 5th December

Are you an adult who would love to learn ballet but don't have any previous experience? Are you recovering from an injury or getting back to fitness after some time off? Do you want a contemporary, fitness-focussed approach to learning the basics of ballet?

This Absolute Beginners Ballet Bootcamp is for you!

Learn the fundamentals of basic ballet technique in a fun, supportive environment. Improve your basic fitness and muscle tone, flexibility, posture and balance.... even if you are out of shape and need some extra motivation to get back into exercise!

This simple and gentle ballet class will give you a surprisingly effective workout even if you are new to exercise or haven't done any physical training for a while.

We will work on basic posture, breathing, alignment and terminology with simple exercises, detailed explanations and plenty of repetition.

Working in a relaxed sports and fitness environment, this class welcomes a diverse range of people of all backgrounds with a friendly, non-judgemental atmosphere. All ages, genders and levels of experience welcome!

This class feels like a Barre workout using only bodyweight, with easy-to-follow, simple combinations.

Starting with a gentle warmup to activate your leg muscles and find your core (perfect if you have a desk job or would like to imporve your posture), you'll progress to learning the important positions, posture and strength to achieve the basics of ballet.

This ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS course is open to people with zero experience, or those who've tried ballet before and want to get back to the basics!

Try something new, meet new people and work up a sweat with this great introduction to the benefits of ballet!

Bring: Towel, water bottle, comfortable fitted layers (leggings/gym shorts/leotards/tights) you can sweat and stretch in. Wear soft ballet shoes if you have them, or cotton socks if not!

If you have any pre-existing injuries, please inform the tutor before the start of class.

Taught by Hack Ballet choreographer Briar Adams

Briar Adams is a dancer and choreographer who trained in ballet in Australia at the National Theatre, before embarking on a career as a performer in dance, opera and circus. As a late starter herself, Briar loves working with adult dancers who need a confidence boost to tackle exciting challenges of ballet training!
