This course is designed to provide a route into self-led vessel making and practice in ceramics for participants at a beginner level. Participants will develop fundamental wheel throwing skills to create the primary cylinder form. Learning to centre the clay, open and then lift the walls of the pot. Once there you will learn how to manipulate and create shapes derived from this base form.
This making will be followed by an introduction to methods of surface decoration. Focussing on effective surface designs through applying stains, coloured slips and glazes.
There will be plenty of opportunity for one-to-one tuition with group sizes limited to a maximum of three participants, enabling a good pace in your personal development in ceramics.
Upon completion participants will take away three well finished thrown and decorated pieces.
* In the event that you cannot attend one of the weekly workshops for any reason, up to two sessions are offered to make up for the sessions you have been unable to attend.
The date you select will be the first session of the six-week course.
