Yerma by Federico García Lorca
Description: Yerma’s relationship with her husband is breaking down because, although she wants to become pregnant, she is unable to. Time goes by and Yerma is overcome with sadness: nostalgia for a possible adolescent romance which never occurred; disillusionment with her friends, who distance themselves from her because of their children; the loss of her youth. The marital home ends up becoming a real prison. Yerma’s intimate tragedy is a crude portrayal of the most private areas of our society, the tragedy of not being able to free oneself from one’s own body. This is a contemporary staging of the play, reflecting on fertility in the modern
day.

Descripción: La relación entre Yerma y su marido se va deteriorando porqué, aunque exista el deseo, ella no consigue quedarse embarazada. La vida pasa y la tristeza se apodera de Yerma: la nostalgia de un posible amor de adolescencia que nunca aconteció, el desencanto de las amistades que se alejan por los hijos, la pérdida de la juventud y el hogar conyugal que se convierte en una auténtica prisión. Un crudo retrato de los niveles más privados de nuestra sociedad donde se acontecen las tragedias más reales, la tragedia íntima de Yerma, la tragedia de no poder desengancharse de su propio cuerpo. Una puesta en escena contemporánea, que reflexiona sobre la fecundidad de nuestros tiempos.
