The Role
My client, a charity-based organisation is seeking a Volunteer Support Officer to join their team. This is a 2 year fixed term contract with the possibility of an extension.
Reporting to the Services Manager, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, supporting and developing the organisations volunteers in the North & NorthWest Dublin region. This is a hybrid position, travel through-out North and North West Dublin with local area knowledge is required for this role. A full, clean driver's licence and access to your own vehicle is essential. Some evening and weekend work will be required from time to time.
Tasks & Duties
* Promote the organisation's Befriending and Support services throughout the community.
* Recruit, train, reference check and Garda vet all volunteers.
* Work with organisation's Service Staff to ensure that all newly trained and vetted volunteers begin activities to support clients within the specified timeframe.
* Support and maintain good communications with volunteers.
* Be the first point of contact for volunteers when issuesarise.
* Develop and implement programmes that promote the continuous improvement and engagement of volunteers.
* Cultivatea positive and supportive atmosphere by recognising volunteer efforts.
* Assist with identifying local activities / events that both clients and their volunteers can participate in.
* Develop local volunteer leadership programme and collaborate with Volunteer Leaders to coordinate and deliver social events in your region.
* You may be required to undertake additional dutiesor tasks as required.
Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
* The ability to work under pressure, multi-task and to resolve problems is essential.
* A full clean driver's license and access to a car is essential for this role.
*Previous experience in recruitment, training and engagement of staff or volunteers is a distinct advantage.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience of delivering presentations to large audiences.
* Strong IT skills with proficient experience in Microsoft Office and Salesforce CRM.
* Previous experience of organising and running events is desirable.
